When Family Relationships End
August 30th, 2012 by admin - Comments Off
It is said that most relationships during our lifetime have a cycle. On some unfortunate occasions, family relationships can also end.
- Death
- Divorce
- Family disputes
- Mental illness
- Addiction to alcohol or drugs
It can be disturbing to think about ending a family relationship but the most important aspect is to remember that sometimes we do not have control over the situation. At no time in life, can we ensure peace and happiness with everyone, all of the time.
Examples include when a family member is addicted to alcohol or drugs and is abusive or stealing to fund their habit. This is a time, when we need to put ourselves first and walk away from that relationship. Especially if children are involved. As much as we would like to help, people who are experts in the subject are the only ones who can assist.
Divorce is another tricky situation, if the cause of the separation is because one person has done something wrong. In the case of an affair, this can take years for that person to forgive, forget, and move on.
The situation that is most hard to accept is death. This is an extreme way for a family relationship to end as there is no chance to see that persons again. If the last word before that person’s death were not comforting, this can make the feelings of mental pain and grief, even more intense.
When family relationships end, take each day as it comes because we cannot control others peoples minds and thoughts. Each day brings a new beginning and different emotions to the surface.
